Yiskor Book
Yom Kippur is traditionally a time to make
a donation in memory of a loved one. In order to make this memorial possible, Beth Shalom
will be a making a Yiskor Book again this year. If you wish to make an entry, please
contact Beth Shalom by Thursday, September 10. Donations will go to our Rabbi/Synagogue

Festival Organization
High Holiday Organizational Meeting,
Monday, July 27, 7:30 p.m. at Cohens. Interested members are welcome to participate.
If you are not able to attend this meeting, but would be able to help out with the holiday
preparations, please contact Beth Shalom.
Worship Services
The following services will take place in
the Beth Shalom synagogue:
Friday, July 24, 7:30 p.m. with Rabbi
Walter Homolka
Friday, August 7, 7:30 p.m. with
Rabbinical student James Baaden
Saturday, August 22, 10:00 a.m.
Friday, September 4, 7:30 p.m.
We need helpers for each service to set up
chairs beforehand, and to put them away afterwards (please see page 4 as well!) Please
also remember to get your contribution for the payment of the cleaning lady ready (put it
in an envelope before the beginning of Shabbat). Every little bit helps!
Please always bring something to eat and
drink for the Oneg after the Friday evening service which is enough for you, your family,
and at least one other visitor. Please bring something milchig (no meat!). Avoid things
which make a lot of trash (like unshelled peanuts!).
Board Meetings
...open to members will be taking place on
Tuesday, July 7, and on Monday, August 3, at Cohen's.
Jour Fixe Dates
Take advantage of the opportunity to meet
new people and not only talk about Jewish topics. Come to our monthly jour fixe, in the
newly renovated restaurant Cohen's (formerly Maon). The evenings begin at 7:30 p.m. (come
when you can make it!). The next dates planned are the Thursdays July 16, September 17,
and October 16 (no jour fixe in August).
Mitzvah committee reminds
you...
Our Mitzvah committee has taken over
looking after visitors and guests at worship services in order to answer questions and
give more information than is contained in our newsletter. Each contact is an enrichment
for both sides and can build bridges which didn't exist before.
Our committee is made up of a small circle
of people who offer help and support to members or friends of Beth Shalom who need or
desire it. Sometimes it just takes a small gesture. Sometimes, however, we have only found
out about difficult situations like illness too late to offer help in time.
For this reason, we ask all members to get in touch with us as early as possible,
especially when you know of a difficult situation concerning somebody else.

the L. M. University in Munich is looking for a room in Munich as of November 1998 for two
